TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati explained the correlation between infrastructure and economic growth. The former managing director of the World Bank asserted infrastructure is one of the keys to boost economic growth.
Therefore, the government is focusing on maintaining the current momentum of sustainable development to tackle many structural issues. “The growth is not merely on the level, but on the quality as well,” said the minister during the Infrastructure Summit 2019: Empowering University for Continuous PPP Infrastructure Development in Regional Government, in Padjadjaran University, Bandung, West Java, Friday, April 26.
However, maintaining sustainable development could no longer depend on the government’s expenditure. Moreover, the country still lacks a budget for infrastructure, despite it had been earmarked in a large amount.
Minister Sri went on to say that the government is currently supporting the government-to-business (KPBU) schemes and public-private partnership (PPP) as both were required to actuate sustainable development.
Infrastructure Summit is Finance Ministry’s special mission vehicle (SMV) hosted by PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (PII) Persero and Padjadjaran University as the head of University Network for Indonesia Infrastructure Development (UNIID).
